Patti Bellinger

Patricia Bellinger recently stepped down as Executive Director at the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS).  She continues to serve as an adjunct lecturer and at the request of the Dean, has assumed a role at the school as a Senior Fellow to advise and mentor the HKS graduate student population.  While Executive Director, she provided strategic oversight across the portfolio of activities for the Center for Public Leadership, one of the world’s premier institutions for leadership training and a hub for scholarship in public service leadership and behavioral decision-making. She led the center during a period of tremendous growth and expansion, from four student fellowships to ten, quadrupling the reach of the leadership development portfolio and playing a pivotal role in building the Center’s endowment. In her role as adjunct lecturer, Patricia continues to teach The Art of Leading in a Diverse World: Skills, Insights, Best Practices within the degree program, is a contributor to HKS Executive Education, and the Center’s Leadership Development programming. A leading expert on organizational diversity and inclusion, Patricia speaks on the topic around the world.

Prior to joining the Center for Public Leadership, Patricia served as Executive Director of Executive Education at Harvard Business School, a $150 million business with a portfolio of over 130 programs. Previously, as a senior executive in the private sector, Patricia led the global diversity and inclusion transformation at energy conglomerate British Petroleum, where she served as BP’s first Group Vice President of Global Diversity and Inclusion. Under her leadership, BP won the coveted Catalyst award for the advancement of women and progress in global diversity. She subsequently served as BP’s Group Vice President of Executive Development and led the BP Leadership Academy as its first director.

Patricia is a non-executive director of Paris-based Sodexo SA, Sonepar Groupe, Pattern Energy Inc., a renewable energy company based in San Francisco and LBrands, the retail conglomerate headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. She serves on the Global Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board of Barilla S.p.A, the Advisory Council of Catalyst, and the Board of Trustees of uAspire. Patricia is a graduate of Harvard College. She is married to Richard Balzer and together they are the parents of four children.
