Monica Hayden

Senior Program Director, San Francisco Bay Area

Monica is the Senior Program Director for uAspire Bay Area. In this role, she oversees our local program strategy and implementation, and has helped to launch new partnerships with the UC Office of the President and with San Francisco’s My Brother’s and Sister’s Keeper Initiative. In addition, Monica works to coordinate our partnerships with Bay Area schools and community-based organizations.

Monica joined uAspire in 2009 as a college affordability advisor in Boston, supporting students and families at five high schools and a range of community-based organizations. Monica took time away from uAspire to complete a graduate degree in education policy and management.

Prior to joining uAspire, Monica was an AmeriCorps teaching fellow with Citizen Schools, and a college counseling intern at City on a Hill Charter High School. Monica earned her Ed.M. in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and her BA from Bates College.

Why uAspire?

I am thrilled to be part of an organization that is so committed to supporting students on their path to and through post-secondary education. For the students and families we work with, financing a college education is a crucial step of the process that we can make easier. uAspire is able to show students that college is not only possible – but affordable. Moreover, it’s a privilege to work with a team of individuals who are student-centered, dedicated, and so much fun!
