Joel Steinhaus

Joel Steinhaus is the Chief of Staff at WeWork. Mr. Steinhaus was previously chief of staff to Citigroup Chairman Mike O’Neill.  In this capacity he worked across Citi’s multi-national franchise as the chairman’s principal liaison with senior management, other members of the board of directors and external stakeholders. At Citi, he also served as senior vice president for Global Public Affairs, where he supported the global implementation of a public affairs strategy across communications, marketing, corporate philanthropy and government affairs. Prior to joining City, he helped launch NBC News’s Education Nation, a multi-media enterprise focused on engaging the public in a conversation about improving education in the United States. Until 2008, Mr. Steinhaus was an associate at Kekst and Company, a strategic corporate and financial communications firm.  Mr. Steinhaus was previously affiliated with the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a Washington, DC-based think tank where he focused on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.  He also serves on the board of New Yorkers for Parks and on the advisory board of the Yale World Fellows Program. Mr. Steinhaus earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management and an AB from Harvard University.  He lives in New York City with his wife and two daughters.
