Hector Preciado

Hector Preciado is a Manager of Advertising Operations for North America at LinkedIn, where he leads a team of Content Strategists. He was born in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico and raised in East Los Angeles. Hector’s parents have an elementary school education and he is one of 13 children.

Hector began his career in Public Policy at the Greenlining Institute, a racial justice research and advocacy non-profit, where for over nine years he served as Director of Strategic Communications, Health Policy Director and, ultimately, the organization’s first Chief Operating Officer. Hector then moved into the tech industry, where he worked at a search engine marketing startup called Adchemy before joining the team at LinkedIn.

As a volunteer, Hector has taught non-profits how to strategically use LinkedIn to advocate for their causes. He supports organizations such as Manos Accelerator, Latino Startup Alliance, and The Hidden Genius Project, which aim to increase diversity in the tech sector. In 2014 Hector co-founded LinkedIn’s Latino Employee Resource Group, HoLA (Hispanics of Linkedin Alliance)–which also supports diversity in the tech industry. Hector serves on the GreenLight Fund Selection Advisory Council and has served on the board of the National Center for Youth Law, the San Francisco League of Women Voters and was a founding board member for UrbanEd Academy.

In addition to helping others, Hector has demonstrated an outstanding personal commitment to completing a four-year college degree. He initially enrolled at UC Santa Cruz but took a leave of absence due to academic hurdles. A year and a half later, Hector enrolled at Mt. San Antonio College, where he graduated from the Honors Program with an A.A. and was recently selected as Mt. San Antonio College’s 2014 Alumnus of the Year. Hector earned a B.A. in Sociology from Pomona College and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, where he specialized in Leadership and Marketing Strategy.
