Meet the Interns: Ariell Christian

By: Chris Loney | Friday, July 19, 2013
Ariell Christian has been an intern here at uAspire since early June right after graduating from high school. Here she shares a bit about herself, how she chose to work here this summer, and the work she’s done here.

My name is Ariell Christian. I am a Bank of America Student Leader and incoming freshman at Lafayette College. Being a Bank of America Student Leader, I was chosen, along with four other students out of 150 applicants to represent Boston in the mission for students, to be involved in a non-profit program and Leadership Summit in Washington D.C. Through the Student Leader Program, I was matched with uAspire Boston as an intern for the summer.IMG_0097

Being an intern at uAspire is a special opportunity for me. In high school I was fortunate to have a uAspire advisor, Dan Mendelsohn, who helped me access great financial aid for college in my senior year of high school. When I came into the uAspire office for assistance and Dan was unavailable, other advisors were there to help me with any questions I had. Being able to intern at uAspire to me is a great way to say thank you for all of the help they have given me this past year.

For my internship, I experience a little of every piece of the uAspire ensemble. Working with all the different departments of uAspire gives me insight on the “Behind the Scenes” action. Recently I have helped Org. Development plan for one of uAspire’s biggest trips, Institute–a retreat for our entire team to prepare for the coming school year. I have also helped with student data, a major factor of what helps uAspire make sure they are always doing their best for the interest of their students. I have also been fortunate enough to talk to a reporter about the increase of student loan interest rate.

It has been such a pleasure working for uAspire and being a part of their community.
