Learning has always been very important to Claudia. She’s always enjoyed learning, reading, and school, and she would even play school with her neighborhood friends as entertainment. But now college will be about more than just learning; It will also be a way out of poverty. Her family has never had a lot of money, and finding a way to afford college – even to just understand the process of paying for it – was all new. Claudia met her uAspire Advisor during fall quarter of senior year, and her Advisor has made the financial aid process much easier to understand – from filling out FAFSAs to meeting deadlines. She made sure to find the time to go through financial aid award letters. Claudia felt more comfortable in deciding to attend UMass Amherst to study engineering. Claudia is eager to continue her education in college – both out of a passion for learning, as well as for the opportunity of a better life.
