In addition, to help ensure strong positive outcomes for all of San Francisco’s African American youth, in August 2016, uAspire Bay Area launched dedicated college affordability advising for the African American 12th graders in all SFUSD high schools, as our contribution to San Francisco’s My Brother’s & Sister’s Keeper Initiative.
In August 2016, uAspire Bay Area also launched services for high school students growing up in the vicinities of UC Davis, UCLA, and UC Riverside as our contribution to the UC Office of the President’s Pre-College Scholars Initiative. Through this new partnership, uAspire will work to increase the pipeline of low-income and first-generation college-bound students into the UC system and gain valuable learnings about affording our state’s top-tier public colleges to apply to our Bay Area advising as well. The pilot will serve students over their 11th and 12th grade years and use a blended model of text-messaged advising and in-person workshops.
