Sami Esquivel

Coordinator, Institutional Giving and Grant Development

Sami is the Coordinator of Institutional Giving and Grant Development. Her work encompasses extending the functions and programs of the development department to drive partnership relationships and impact. Nearly a decade of her work is comprised of leading teams and volunteers as a marketing manager and Veggielution farm workday leader in the San Francisco Bay Area. Outside of work, she strives for amplifying diverse voices in humanitarian advocacy work focused on outreach and policy.

Sami graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a major in Anthropology focused in Biology with an aim to make science and technology accessible to the public.

Why uAspire?

Every registration period felt scary for me, a first generation and low-income student, and I fell through some giant cracks that made staying in college difficult. Money is a difficult subject, made worse by the jungle of college financial language. uAspire focuses on underrepresented students by championing their dreams and by providing essential financial guidance and addressing students' concerns through direct policy actions. I am honored to incorporate my experience to expand student services at uAspire.
