Melina Dominguez

College Affordability Advisor

I'm a College Affordability Advisor for Succeed students in NYC. I virtually advise first and second year CUNY students in partnership with CBI. I graduated in May 2018 from Amherst College, where I majored in Political Science and Latinx and Latin American Studies. While at Amherst, I worked as a mentor and tutor for Reader to Reader and Girls Inc. of Holyoke. At Reader to Reader, I worked to combat reading comprehension disparities in the Pioneer Valley by fostering meaningful virtual mentor/mentee relationships with elementary and middle school students. At Girls Inc.of Holyoke, my primary focus was to help empower young girls through personal mentorship and academic tutoring.

Why uAspire?

I believe college should be a tangible and affordable option for all students. Being from an under-served community, I know first hand how important it is to have the right guidance and support when trying to access and afford post-secondary education. I'm excited to be part of an organization l that is committed to making both of these things a reality.
