Training Specialist

Meghan is a Training Specialist for Training and Technical Assistance (T&TA) at uAspire. In this role, she supports the delivery of in-person and virtual webinar trainings, supports T&TA with training and content development, and supports the overall work of the T&TA team. Prior to uAspire, Meghan was a Financial Counselor at Cristo Rey Community Center in Lansing, MI. In this role, she worked with clients from various backgrounds to help them improve their personal finances through budgeting, accessing banking, improving credit, and reducing debt. Prior to that role, Meghan served as a College Adviser for two years with the Michigan State University College Advising Corps. As a College Adviser, Meghan helped high school students from two rural underserved Michigan public high schools attain their higher education goals by helping them through the entirety of the college-going process. Meghan graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Education.

Why uAspire?

I received training from uAspire when I was a College Adviser and it was the most helpful training I received in that role. Thanks to uAspire, I was able to explain financial aid jargon to my students, guide my students toward post-secondary education options that were affordable for them, help students and parents complete their FAFSAs, and empower my students to make good financial decisions after graduating high school. uAspire gave me a lot of the tools I needed to be a successful adviser and I want to provide that experience to others working directly with students.
