Chief Policy Officer
An education leader with a unique blend of classroom and board room experience, Laura is passionate about closing the college achievement gap and sees affordability as a key lever to get there. She combines student-centered focus with strategic vision and innovative model development expertise to advance college completion for our young people who need it most. As Chief Policy Officer, Laura leads the creation of a new policy department at uAspire to drive systems change at the institutional, local and national levels. She develops strategic partnerships with the broader higher education practice, research, and policy communities to drive systemic change that will result in more degrees and less debt for low-income and first-generation young adults. Previously at uAspire, Laura served as vice president for training, partnerships, and innovation to help uAspire launch their national training and technical assistance model. Prior to uAspire, Laura worked at Mastery Charter Schools in Philadelphia where she designed, implemented, managed, and evaluated all college initiatives for 10,000+ students/graduates grades K-16, as well as the social emotional learning and school culture programs across the school network. Laura currently serves on national and state advisory boards and presents at national conferences to promote common best practices, research-based strategies and needed systems change on college completion for underrepresented students. Laura earned her BA at the University of Notre Dame and Ed.M. at Harvard University. Outside of work, Laura can be found running around Philadelphia with her three kids and pup.
